The next problem could be that the sr9700 driver module will not recognize the product ID 9702, as it expects only product ID 9700. First, make sure the usb_modeswitch part is properly installed. Then, ensure that the usb_modeswitch part is properly configured. If the module modprobes on startup, that's a good sign, but if it does not, or the module loads but modprobe fails, then you can probably get a better error message by adding sudo modprobe -v usb_modeswitch to the end of the bootstring in /etc/default/usbroot

Handy tip: the device sequence number may vary, if the device changes ID between discovery and actual use. To verify the ID used the device, you may use the usb_modeswitch to force the device to always use the same ID.
